Getting Squeezed

October 20th, 2010 at 07:14 pm

Health insurance premiums went up again. And now I just noticed that our sales tax just went up another .5%, an additional $.71 on just the one Target receipt I noticed it on. Don't want to think about what it all will add up to yearly.

Also, new EPA regulations require contractor husband to take a class ($250) to get a required certificate (another $300/every five years). Not even sure yet how the new regulations are going to make it even tougher to make a living.

All we can do is the best we can, and keep plugging away. Looks like we might have several more months of work coming up. Sure hope so.

Yup, lots of folks feeling the squeeze these days. Sad to see those around me struggle. I help when I can. Share what you have, right? Glad to hear work looks rather steady at the moment for you.

We are voting on upping the sales tax to fund police and fire. Actually now that I think about it, I may not get to vote because I do not live in the "city".

I am really wondering how long the insurance companies will continue to run health care in the States. I am living overseas right now, and there are some other countries with a healthy mix of public and private funding options that lead to reliable coverage AND excellent care. (I'm not talking about Canada or the UK, either.)
