CHASE BANK RIP-OFF FEE

October 5th, 2009 at 02:18 am

A customer paid us in cash. Checked account online today to discover that Chase charged us $7.80 for depositing it! A "cash deposited fee". Unbelievable! I do them the favor of depositing money in their institute and they CHARGE ME for it???

Was it because the teller had to count the bills that took all of 30 seconds? People are at the teller windows much longer than that for other reasons. What crap. I'm so tired of various companies trying to rip me off and always having to fight it. Disgusting.

I would ask when the heck they instituted that fee and ask that it be removed. What a bunch of jerks.

Excuse me? WOW, just when I thought I'd heard everything. I wonder what that fee is all about.

Husband went down to the bank today to ask what was up with the fee and ask that it be removed. They refused to remove it. "A 30 cent fee for each $100.00 in excess of $5,000.00 deposited and/or provided during the monthly statement cycle." Husband was told that if he wants to avoid the fee in the future, then he could deposit the cash in our personal account and then write a check to the business account. Ridiculous.

If I had gone ahead and paid the job expenses and made any owner draws before checking my balance, I could have ended up with a bunch of bounced checks. Another way for the banks to stick it to the little people who are trying to survive.

This is the exact reason DH switched banks here in No CA for his business since it is almost all cash we deposit with a few checks.

I have my personal account at WAMU/Chase, will remember to not try to deposit cash there.

i got nailed by chase today! absolutely disgusting 32 dollars because of an .83 overdraft fee. they rearranged the transactions and waited until my account was empty to post a 1.00 transaction that occurred 12 days prior to posting. they are sick.

I am retired in Mexico and my Social Security is auto-deposited into a checking account in the US. I have used a WAMU debit card to get pesos from my WAMU checking account for years. Wamu charged a 1% foreign transaction fee, and the foreign owner of the ATM charged another 1%. Chase took over WAMU recently, and in addition to raising their portion of those 2 fees to 3% they have added a currency exchange adjustment which in my case amounts to a combined total of more than 10%. This is not due to currency price fluctuations, the ratio hasn't moved by more than 2% or so either way from 13.25 to the dollar in some time and is overall pretty stable. This week Chase adjusted my exchange rate to 11.58 for no reason that I can see but pure theft. I called them today and was told, politely, to suck it up and move on. Shame on Chase.
